Your NCT Branch Needs YOU

The Oxford NCT Branch is currently looking for enthusiastic
mums (or dads) to join its committee. Meetings are held around once
a month and provide a great opportunity to get together with
like-minded parents. At present, we’re seeking to fill the following positions:

• Membership coordinator
• Treasurer: responsibilities include handling the finances of the Oxford branch and liaising with head office
• Coffee Group Coordinators for North Oxford & Summertown, Grandpoint & Abingdon Road, and Marston.
• Father's Representative
• Parent Support Coordinator

ANTENATAL AND POSTNATAL CLASSES AND ADVICE

The Oxford branch has a full-time antenatal teacher called Virgil, who is based in North Oxford. For bookings, please contact Virgil in the first instance at Tel: 01865 512965. For email enquiries contact: bookings5t@nct.org.uk.

We do not have a postnatal teacher based in Oxford but plan to offer courses within the city from late-2010. In the meantime, courses are available in Abingdon, Wantage and Wallingford. For more information, please email (Postnatal Leader). To book a place on a course in a neighbouring branch please email or call Sam Hall (bookings5p@nct.org.uk or Tel: 0844 243 6887).

The Oxford branch produces leaflets outlining local antenatal and postnatal services available for prospective and new parents which are distributed via the JR Hospital to all surgeries and midwives in the city. The leaflets are updated twice a year in Spring and Autumn. Contact our Leaflet Editors for more information. BREASTFEEDING COUNSELLOR
We do not currently have a qualified breastfeeding counsellor but we do have a trainee. The NCT does have a breastfeeding line, which is available from 9am to 6pm, seven days a week. The number is 0870 444 8708.
The John Radcliffe  Breastfeeding clinic, which is usually open 2 days a week. This is a world class clinic, run by the renowned Sally Inch and Chloe Fisher. The number is 01865 221695. It is advisable to phone to check opening times before travelling to the JR. Alternatively, you might like to try the Baby Cafe. There are 8 in Oxfordshire, including 3 in Oxford. HOMEBIRTH SUPPORT
Practical help, advice and chat for those considering a homebirth. Groups run once a month, are drop-in and free. They are held in the evening of the second Wednesday of the month.  Contact , or call 01865 516562.

TWINS AND MULTIPLE BIRTH SUPPORT
Chat with a mum who has been there! Call Jo Gilder on 07977 201839.

VALLEY CUSHION HIRE
Valley cushions are available to hire to any mother experiencing problems sitting after labour and delivery, whether or not she is an NCT member.
